Urban areas are equipped with all the modern amenities. The modern-day facilities like the Internet, telephone, television and satellite communication facilities are widely available in the urban areas. A majority of the households of the urban areas are blessed with this technological advancement.
The newly developing shopping complexes, theatres, food malls and restaurants are a commonplace in urban cities. Huge constructions, large housing complexes, skyscrapers are found in most of the urban metropolitan cities. Elevators, escalators, storeyed parking areas and towering constructions add to the magnificence of the urban cities.
Due to a greater availability of all the modern facilities along with an increase in the number of educational facilities and career opportunities, people of the urban areas lead an economically more stable and a luxurious life.
The increasing attraction of the people towards the urban parts of the world has resulted in crowding of urban areas. The increasing population, majority of which prefers settling in urban cities, has led to an imbalance in the density of human population. Excessive industrialization has invited environmental problems like pollution.
However, the rise in economic growth that has resulted in self-sufficiency in the common masses has resulted in a self-centered nature of society. While technological advancement has brought the world closer, human beings have gone far apart from each other. Buildings that touch the skies have built walls between people. The rise in prosperity has been eclipsed by the decline in peace.

Indeed, the hip looks of urban clothing design has caught on in a big way, especially with America’s white, young suburbanites, who view inner-city black youth as independent and savvy, and a are keen on emulating their dressing style along with the attitude that goes with it. Brightly colored, baggy clothing have become mainstream in the street fashion of America, which has resulted in making small fortunes for designers creating this stuff.
These designers keep their ears close to the street, hence know exactly what the urban fashion conscious customer desires and wants – stylish and innovative attire. Practically everybody’s embracing the cult of rap, and that oversize, logoed, vibrantly colored look has caught everybody’s fancy.
So much so, that in order to widen their appeal further, many urban fashion designers are making a conscious shift away from labeling their stuff ‘urbanwear’ and using ‘metropolitan’ or ‘contemporary’ instead. That’s because the term ‘urban’, as far as fashionable attire is concerned, has outgrown its definition. There has been a blurring of the lines of clothing that was meant for that particular market. While it started out with basic T-shirts and oversize denim, it has now evolved into including tailored clothing for women and men’s wear collections. Hence, today’s urban fashion clothing runs the whole gamut from denim suits to T-shirts to tailored suits plus furs and luxury leathers. Read the rest of this entry »

Denver authorities said last night that a number of arrests had been made of individuals in connection with firearms offenses in the city which is hosting the Democratic National Convention.
US attorney Troy Eid said in a statement: “We can say this: We’re absolutely confident there is no credible threat to the candidate, the Democratic National Convention or the people of Colorado.”
Denver officials refused to immediately confirm local media reports that linked the arrests to a possible attempt on the life of the Barack Obama who is due to make his key address to the conference on Thursday.
Local TV station KCNC-TV reported that four people had been picked up by police following a traffic stop in the Denver suburb of Aurora. That arrest, which took place on Sunday morning, saw a 28-year-old man taken into custody after he was spotted driving erratically in a rented pickup truck. Read the rest of this entry »

For all those football methodical lovers, who reckon the Broncos’ offensive attack seemed a little like last year’s Patriots, with spread formations and a lot of passes, let me inform that “you know the game and you’re right”!! Offensively, they are matched up with what they were doing in 2007, now the question is…Is it working? We have little disbelieve about the success. The Broncos are 2-0 and lead the league in yards gained and points. Early to make a statement, but seems to be working.
The Broncos have passed the ball at an amazing rate. Cutler threw 50 passes on Sunday September 14th against San Diego, which tied a franchise record. The 2007 Patriots were the highest-scoring offense in NFL history and asking the Broncos to twin their numbers would be foolish, but Denver thinks the wide-open style fits their section and quarterbacks coach Jeremy Bates has gotten a lot of recognition for his battle full plan.
We’ve noticed the Broncos also studied the Steelers, Chargers and the Saints who they played on Sept the 21st; these teams are all pass-heavy.
The Broncos have averaged 4.9 yards per carry running the ball, but have been most effective when throwing. In the third quarter against San Diego the Broncos didn’t get a first down. They were a little more conventional that quarter, especially in the second series when they ran twice, threw a short screen and punted… sounds familiar right? Read the rest of this entry »

The people of Denver have spoken. In Wednesday’s vote, just over half of the voters approved an ordinance allowing residents 21 years and older to carry up to an ounce of marijuana without fear of prosecution. The vote was very close, with 54% voting in favor and 46% voting against the law, and residents were sharply divided over the issue.
“We educated voters about the facts that marijuana is less harmful to the user and society than alcohol,” said Mason Tvert, campaign organizer for SAFER, or Safer Alternatives for Enjoyable Recreation. “To prohibit adults from making the rational, safer choice to use marijuana is bad public policy.” Tvert’s argument was that legalizing marijuana would reduce consumption of alcohol, which he said leads to higher rates of car accidents, domestic violence, and street crimes. Seattle, Oakland, and a few other college towns already have laws on the books making it a low priority for law enforcement personnel to punish people carrying negligible amounts.
The group criticized Mayor John Hickenlooper for opposing the proposal, because they said his opinion was biased since he owns a popular local bar. It also pointed out recent violent crimes, such as last weekend’s shooting of four people, and said crimes such as those are a pointed reminder of how legalizing marijuana will steer people away from alcohol abuse. Bruce Mirken of the Marijuana Policy Project in Washington, D.C., told reporters that he hopes the approval of Denver’s proposal will launch a national trend toward legalizing small amounts of marijuana, since enforcing laws against it causes more problems than the laws solve.
